COVID-19 Policy

We cannot wait to welcome you back to The George from the 4th July. Our 'New Normal' will involve us following industry best practice to ensure our team and guests can experience the warm and inviting environment we hope to still be remembered for!

Please read the information below for details about what to expect when you next visit or stay with us, our current food and drink offer, and the safety measures we have put in place.

Stay Safe

Set in the beautiful Barford-saint-Michael, on the edge of the Cotswolds, The George Inn offers a sublime & boutique, five-star residence including a restaurant, bar, and manicured garden and terrace.

We are currently offering a complimentary continental breakfast to all of our staying guests, which is delivered to your room each morning at 7am. Our current breakfast offer includes fresh juices, smoothies, local yogurts and preserves, homemade breakfast bars, fruits and warm croissants! We deliver your breakfast packaged in a cool bag, so you can choose to dine in your room, on our terrace or take it away with you on a picnic!

Our check in process is now contactless, and we will be in touch with you prior to your arrival with instructions on how to find your room, and the processes we have put in place for your stay. Your booking confirmation will accompany our COVID H&S planning, so you know what to expect and where to go when you arrive to us!

Your warm welcome awaits!

Eat Safe

Whilst we insist our guests are social distancing, we must ensure our team are too. This means, ideally, one chef in the kitchen. Whilst we are certain we have great talent in the kitchen, we are realistic in that to offer our usual full a la carte, would mean more than one chef and increased potential for contact risks. With this in mind and our chef’s menu-planning on the table, we are excited to announce our new sourdough pizza + sides menu, where we are utilising the most delicious locally sourced produce and testing the skills of our chefs on their own!

(Did we mention the immediate return of our infamous boneless Cotswold Chicken thighs?!?)

This menu will be our starting point to get us back on our feet, and we are hoping to expand on it as soon, and as safely, as we can. We will be heeding your feedback as we adjust as a business, and appreciate your continued support.

Our kitchen will now remain open throughout the afternoon, from 12pm until 9pm daily, to encourage our guests to dine throughout the day rather than clustering at peak times. Please refer to our table booking page on our website for our guidance on booking.

As well as being open for our customers, our pizzas will also be available to order and pay for online which will also allow you to book a slot for pick up at the collection point at the pub. Watch this space!

Breakfasts at The George are now for our staying guests only, and will be served to your room going forward (for full hotel guest info please refer to our website booking page).

Book Safely

For the time being, we have extended our kitchen opening hours to encourage our guests to stagger their visit to us, safe in the knowledge that our kitchen now remains open throughout the day. You can now book a table from 12pm – 9pm Monday – Saturday and 12pm – 4pm on Sundays.

We are keeping walk ins to a maximum of 4 people, and we can only have our cover capacity inside the pub – i.e. a seat for everyone, and they must sit!!

Our door will essentially now have to be hosted from 12pm – 9pm, meaning no guest can be left to sit themselves and must be directed/signalled by a member of staff.

We are taking bookings for tables up to 8 people, across two households, and encouraging groups of over 4 people to book to avoid disappointment.

Please say if you would prefer a table outside or inside, we will do our best to accommodate!

All bookings between 9 and 30 people are now classed as a function and must be approved and planned via a meeting with Claire (all enquiries for functions will be followed up on, after the 4th July).

Apologies but we cannot take any enquiries for functions of over 30 people at this time.
